October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month – an important initiative for all of us working with sensitive data.
As operators of the UK’s largest and most authoritative risk intelligence syndicate, data and cybersecurity is of utmost importance to Synectics.
Our customers depend on the availability, integrity and security of Synectics’ data for mission-critical business. And we take those responsibilities seriously.
This is why our cybersecurity practices and policies are exceptionally robust and always evolving to stay ahead of threats.
One example is our use of password managers, which Synectics’ colleagues are required to use to prevent risks like credential theft, unauthorised access and brute force attacks.
We also apply multifactor authentication across applications, data storage repositories and company-issued devices. MFA is one of the most powerful tools at an organisation’s disposal to prevent hacking, account takeovers and data or identity theft, and all Synectics colleagues use it diligently.
As a counter-fraud technology company, we have entire teams dedicated to maintaining the resiliency, performance and availability of our systems, along with the privacy of our data.
Our colleagues are a part of this too, though. Where manual operating system or application updates are required, our teams run updates promptly – knowing how vital this practice is to controlling security vulnerabilities.
Our complete scope of cybersecurity practices is vast, and one of the most important initiatives we run is our phishing training programme. We combine skills-based and vigilance-focused training techniques to ensure our colleagues detect and report phishing attacks and remain up-to-speed with shifting tactics.
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an excellent opportunity to reflect on just how impactful good cyber hygiene can be. Not just for the businesses we’re part of, but for those we serve as customers.
